Homemade inline treadle hammer fabricated from steel. Ram travel is 12". Dies are 48 RC. Overall height is 62".

Maybe I'm missing something but it looks like a Rube Goldberg piece of leg exercise equipment to me. As I understand a treadle hammer, the ram must be free to travel beyond the range initiated by pressing the treadle. If you remove the treadle, from a real treadle hammer, the ram will still be supported by the springs. If you remove the treadle from this thing the ram will just fall to the anvil. Absolutely incredible to me that Alex has the skills to build this fairly substantial project to a terminally inefficient design.
