New "Repurposed" Vanity... Trash Picked Of Course.

I picked this old vanity up at the side of the road. I had ideas to make it into a multipurpose welding, grinding, assembly bench. I had already started working on it when I took this pic...

Cut up a Harbor Freight furniture dolly and mounted it too the bottom to make it portable.

I had a lot of OSB left over from another project so I plated in the back and top with a couple of pieces of that. I also added some reclaimed pallet boards to add some structure to the corners. It is pretty stout.

    With the top in place.

I also added a middle drawer (it was blank) and reinforced all of the drawer slides.
To get the unit up to my working height I added some 2 x 6's on edge to the top. I laid these out so i can slide a clear plastic shoe box into each cubby hole.

Once all of the "updating" was done I decided to give the whole thing a coat of white paint...

I picked up a 1/4" x 24" x 54" piece of steel plate for the top. Itwas a little rusty so I DA'd it down, hit it with some Metal Ready to knock down the surface rust and called it done...

All cleaned up and no where to go...

I also painted the hardware to spiff it up a bit.

All done! Added a power strip to one end and a tool holder to the other. There is plenty of over hang for clamping and lots of storage for stuff.
