Good job done.
I had to construct the drive of an linear slide of a plasma welder for cutting. My problem was to find a electric motor drive with enough force to drive the linear axis at a speed range between 7" and 250" per minute. The best solution was a Nema23 stepper motor with 4A controlled by a stand alone generator for the necessary frequecies able to handle the range beetween 0 and 20kHz. The generators offered for Arduino modules worked not over the whole range using just a single potentiometer. The resolution was a own layout design using a CD4046 IC which has just the size 1,6" by 0,8" with a supply voltage between 12 and 35 volts. The speed was detected and shown by a rpm meter in millimeters per minute. It was easier to handle
the construction with the stepper because it is gearless and the spped of the drive is 200 mm per rpm an the accessibility is easier and cheeper than a geared DC-motor which has a lower torque at low speeds.
