Every part was constructed from raw materials. No threaded rod or micrometer barrels were harmed in this project :D
Fingers, finger screws and hinge pins were all turned from 4140. c360 brass was used for the finger ends, bushings and stopper screws. 1018 cold rolled for the retainer nuts and knobs and just a big ol' slab of 1", hot rolled plate for the main body.
I believe part 1 and part 4 have some rough sketches of the body and finger assembly. It really turned out to be a very sturdy tool, beyond my expectations :)
It proved to be quite a difficult build, being the newbie that I am in the machining department. Hope you guys find my build helpful and enjoyed the show!
