Homemade spindle bore stop fashioned from an exhaust pipe expander, threaded rod, black iron pipe, and hardware.

Tailpipe expanders are what I've used also. Buyers using for auto work aren't so happy with them, but less tightening is needed to keep position in bore. I made dedicated extension, T-handle and socket to operate mine. Also worth the time to replace 2 o-rings holding segments together with extension springs.
