DESCRIPTION:
Homemade ball sine plate constructed from steel plate and bearing balls.

This a clever take on compound sines. And, it's not $700.00. Other builders can adopt the concept, but alter the execution in many ways. An aluminum plate will 'adhere' to part being clamped, less apt to slip than finely ground steel. Thickness should be sufficient to not deflect from clamping. There are solutions for retain bearing balls would be mechanical vs. magnetic (attracts chips).
That's what tooling is all about. Few rules and design to suit project at hand.
