After seeing diyfixman's excellent Metal bender from a large bearing, like all good people, I searched for "world's largest bearing". There isn't really a decisive winner. However, to our great entertainment, large bearing manufacturers are constantly involved in photograph-rich public relations battles over who has made the world's largest bearing! A few picks:

    China's largest slewing bearing:

The research lens of "bearing" weaves nicely throughout industry, history, photography, vehicles, military, etc.

Origin unknown; labeled as "Biggest bearing".

Maybe a slewing crane, but most likely a dredger

It was funny when i took my late dad to see the Mary Valley Rattler & the steam engine was much younger than he. a very large turn table turned the engine around at the terminus at Imbul.

Photo, notice inspector is gauging the OD with a indicator bar. The standard would be stored elsewhere temp-controlled, due to size and value. Thats only checking size, not roundness, unless the indicator is spaced between two more contact points.

I recall a story about ball bearings; their durability held up development of turbines and jet engines. At that time softer materials were used, and races would indent from stationary balls. Experimental aircraft had auxiliary motors to spin main-shafts and circulate lubricant continually at low speed.

I'm pretty sure they use trunnions for large turntables - easier to maintain, and easier to cope with tolerances in manufacturing.
