Wiring coolant pump on 4x6 bandsaw

    Hi All

When installing the coolant system I totally re-wired the whole machine. The main reason for this, I wanted in incorporate the coolant pump to only run when the main motor is running, but I also wanted the coolant pump to be independent and only run when needed, and also turn itself off when the cut was complete.

So a latching start/stop switch was used to start the motor and the use of a relay powered via the start button allows the coolant pump to be started on a momentary push button switch. When the cut is finished the stop button is actuated by a lever stopping the saw and cuts the power. Which in turn cuts the relay stopping the coolant pump.

I didn’t use a isolation switch but wired a IEC (kettle lead) so this can be pulled out. So when moving the machine the cable can’t be caught up under the machine or wheels.

Another advantage of having the pump wired this way, the coolant pump can be totally isolated if cutting a material that doesn’t require coolant.

Nice work, did you post a video of making the coolant tray?
The power switch on mine died a while back and I took it apart and thought I had solved it's problem but it stopped working last week. So I need to get a new switch and while I am at it i might as well make a cooling tray.
