Quite a lot to read in an emergency!

Philip...this the list you spend time with when putting together your bushfire preparedness plan, a document that we are reminded of prior to every fire season (like now...). Ours is looked at and amended if need be and put in an obvious spot. Just in preparation, the plan is reinforced in our minds such that should we need to act, we know what to do. This was really made a point in the 2019 season in NSW, AUS, when we experienced the worst fires ever.
The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) has an app that notifies you of fires and their handling of them on your phone, in real time, with warnings if evacs are recommended. If the RFS gives a first stage 'Watch and act' alert, that is the time to retrieve the plan and prepare as per the list...pretty much the embodiment of the Boy Scout motto..Be Prepared

I beg your pardon, I am afraid I was being flippant. I realize how devastating wildfires can be, hugely destructive to property and the environment and appreciate that there are many who risk their lives and some are killed in combating them.

Philip, all good...I thought that could be your dry humour...but seriously, many of those that encounter the worst outcomes have never truly thought about what's required...and the all too often garden hose brigade find themselves at the front of a life threatening queue...cheers
