Wheelchair Bound - But, My Mind Still Works

Have been a "Watcher" to Jon's site for some time - looking for inspiration and ideas to kickstart my stalled creativity.

Former fixed wing aircraft mechanic, motorcycle rider (back in the day,) High school and University "Shop Teacher" (Woods, Composites, Metals, Power Mechanics and Engineering Drafting, etc.)

Retired after 42 years in the classroom and administration -

    Currently using AutoDesk INVENTOR 2016

    Welcome aboard.

The "Home Model Engine Machinist" forum has a subforum devoted to Machining with Disabilities. A recent post by one of their wheelchair-bound contributors...

Shop Tricks for Disabilities - Home Model Engine Machinist

will give you a sample of what goes on there.

I'm fairly sure that Jon and Ken won't object if I suggest that you visit that site to see if you can find anything inspiring.

Miniature machining with desktop lathes and mills (eg, Unimat, Sherline, Taig) has yielded many impressive models and tools.

    Hi DRJWLJ,

Welcome - very glad to have you here!

Yep, you'll fit in just fine. What sort of A&P work were you doing - GA or airlines?

Great link, Marv! I'm sure DRJWLJ will find it highly useful.

What sort of project are you hoping to find?

    Ken

Hi DRJWLJ, welcome to the forums! As my uncle used to say, we are all only temporarily able. The important thing is looking past the disability and seeing what one can still do, as you are doing.

    Great link, mklotz!
