    What do flared holes do?

Perhaps more of a public service announcement than a 'making of', this clip may be of interest to some. Here I use a computer to show what flaring holes in sheet metal does. (but FEA is a tool right?)

Y'all beat me to it. But I was 650 miles away to scoop up portable davit crane, reloading measure and oak machinist tool chests. There was supposed to be a 9' rolling ladder, crux of entire trip, but that yay-hoo doesn't understand concept of gentlemanly agreement. Nor a reply to my message chiding him; even worse.

Regarding FEA of original post, two divergent examples come to mind. Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, one particular walkway in Kansas City. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyatt_...lkway_collapse "a nationwide pattern of fast-tracked large construction with reduced oversight and major failures. Its roof had partially collapsed during construction, and the ill-conceived skywalk design progressively degraded due to a miscommunication loop of corporate neglect and irresponsibility. An investigation concluded that it would have failed even under one-third of the weight it held that night."
