This chart can be a little misleading to persons not well versed on how a barrel of crude oil is utilized, but at the same time gives an overall general representation of the many uses of crude oil al be it a small portion the many products whose manufacture owe their existence to the many products and by products which can be extracted from crude oil depending on which of those products are in the highest demand at the time of processing and reprocessing. Many food stuffs share byproducts derived from crude oil some medicines not just medicinal oils are made from oil fertilizers are another product that is high on the list of things crude oil is used for.
If the world ever does run out of oil many of the things we use every day will become very expensive as the alternative ways to produce them can be more environmentally damaging than using crude oil. The so called greenies and what some of us call environmental wacko have a point to their Rederic, but their methods of making it known is flawed. The government seems to think the only way to sway public opinion and knowledge of the importance of perusing ways to implement alternative energy is to make demands uses scare tactics and implement bans or create restrictions and to make people believe the use and production of fossil fuels is some kind of essential threat to our existence, while ignoring the possibilities that their methods could possibly be even more damaging to the planet.

Huge indisputable value to our planet but the worst thing for ourselves is burning it, of course we are going to continue burning it for our lifetimes but it's got to eventually stop in it's current iteration.
Electric cars are going to be an environmental disaster unless their science improves at a mad rate but for now they are better than burning dead critters.
