Hey you guys, just here because I signed up for the newsletter and since I plan to learn how to weld over the next few months or years, I want to see what other people came up with so I can create my own shop equipment. Why buy a $300 engine lift when I can design and build my own with a $50 hydraulic ram and some skill? Why buy a $150 engine stand that can't run the engine when I can get a radiator, battery, some metal stock and casters, and build my own engine run stand so I can work on the engine AND test it before putting it in the car?

So I won't be posting much but I'll be reading a lot!

    Hi occupant,

You'll find lots of guys (most?) around here who entirely agree with your philosophy. We're definitely a bunch of build-it-ourself'ers. Have you checked out our Welding category? Many interesting tools and projects there.

If you've completed any homemade tools of your own, we'd love to see them. Share them in the Homemade Tools subforum; we'll add each one to the database, as well as to your builder page on the site.

Non-tool items should be posted in the Not a Tool, but Homemade subforum.

    Ken
