On the prototyping project I am working on I need every thing to be repeatable and matching for when or it we bring it into production
the If part is mute at this point as there are already many who have a huge interest in buying them in multiples.
This weldment is called the lower beam in order to fabricate it there are 2 main pieces which must be welded together to make a rectangular shape with a raised formed slot Due to the shape and the parts which must be welded inside it has to be formed in 2 pieces then welded together
here is my stupidly simple method to achieve this
I welded a vertical strip to my tilt table then clamp the pieces over it using the strip to preserve the slot width
A pair of speed squares clamped to the table maintain squareness
and shims clamped between the sides allow for a 100% penetration weld
