    Welding booth

As with any shop of any size even if you can close all of the doors there seems to always be air currents which can effect the quality of mig welding. A sudden gust of wind from an open door can cause porosity in your welds and when welding alloy metals ore even just structural steel this can lead to a failed weldment.
I also needed a barrier to prevent others from getting arc eye I don't have any employees at this time but eventually when there are other workers
I don't want the possible workmen's comp claims associated with this.
Plus I needed to secure an area completely shielded from the wind since I still have a 17 ft by 48ft open doorway to the west.
Here is my solution, I used the side tarp from a Conestoga trailer kit. these are tarps designed to turn a flat bed semi trailer into a dry box, but one that you can roll the kit either forward or to the rear of the trailer exposing nearly the whole bed of the trailer.

the high wall tarp and the size of the booth makes it nice for heavy grinding as well
The fabric of the tarp is heavy enough that it is not effected by the sparks and being over 8 feet high the likely hood of sparks getting in someone's eyes as they pass by outside of the booth is next to nill and they do not ricochet back at me
Never try to tell me it can't be done

Excellent solution. Nice that you have your football field covered. You put a lot of hard work in it and a big part recycled. Hats off to you.

I guess the most pressing question is: "How do I get a bus in my attic?" hahaha What I would give for that kind of workspace. And I do love the welding booth! Thanks for sharing.
