That makes for a really fast easy way to install electrical conduit in the walls. beat using a hammer and chisel or a worm drive circular saw with a dado blade

In our new place, they only sunk the boxes. The wires were run on the surface, covered with wire mesh, then they covered everything with a thick stucco. More stucco, less cutting.
The water & heating pipes run along the floor at the walls and then they poured the self leveling concrete final layer.
A few years ago I was on a site where we had to cut some block walls with brick veneers and some concrete walls. We hired a company with a diamond rope saw. It was pretty neat. They could make nearly perfect cuts straight through those walls.
