The Jackal's assasination weapon in "Day of the Jackal" was a rifle built into a crutch, and from the looks of it, this has much the same intent.

I thought the same thing - loved reading that book, and descriptive enough to make the concept "do-able" for a decent machinist

I've never met a "decent" machinist. They're always the "greatest ever". Realistically, if you can do it it ain't bragging. Or so I've been told.
