Vacum CLEANER CABLE Roller Connector Awesome idea

Having loose, dangling wires in the workshop is both dangerous and impractical. This gave me the idea to make self-retracting cable reels for some of my machines, using parts from old vacuum cleaners.

It is relatively easy (but can be very dusty/dirty) to get the cable mechanism from a used vacuum cleaner, mount it in a box and then connect the wires to a socket or directly to the machine.
