Trucker survives plunge off Louisiana I-10 bridge into water below

That looks like the causeway going across Lake Pontchartrain from Mandeville to Metairie (New Orleans). Hurricane Katrina back in 2005 lifted some of the sections off the support pilings a civil engineer friend of mine was involved in the rebuilding.

I've driven over and sailed under that bridge for my fair share of times.

Its a 22-mile long ongoing experiment in road hypnosis - the trip is usually broken up only by fog or some other contestant who failed the challenge.
