Thanks, Jon. Had a look on Wiki and see that they are quite a comprehensive Auto club with 18 million members in Germany! Also Jet rescue planes. The use of cranes makes too much sense in cities. We still use tilt tray loaders, but they require a lot of area to remove a vehicle. I suspect the reason here is that the truck required would be maybe an 8 tonne to handle the crane and the towed vehicle, whereas a tilt tray would only be a 5-6 tonne...and the cranes are pricey, $25-30,000...typically used by larger timber yards for site delivery of strapped packs.
