Hi All
The trailer mover I built has a ball locking mechanism to prevent the mover from slipping out when under power.
The mechanism is based around a commercially manufactured trailer mover sold in Canada and the USA.
The system is a toggle lock over centre clamp. To maintain correct pressure the tow ball can either be screwed up or down and clamps to the plate below the ball. To overcome different ball hitches the plate is interchangeable to suit.
The different hitches on my trailers
Taper roller bearing in bottom of steering column to assist turning when ball is locked in place.
Toggle clamp mechanism.
The grub screw and locking nut allow the clamp to be adjusted so it clamps just over centre.
The plate can be modified by screwing additional parts to fit the hitch on trailer.
Again thank you for viewing and hopefully you are not getting bored with the posts on this project.
