    Tool of the Week Winners....

Well this is embarrassing to have won the tool of the week, with all the tools that were posted .
I was so impressed with the quality and use of many of the tools .
If I could I would split up the prize and share it with all of you, who had some spot on ideas this week and of course ,
    always, thanks for your support....Cap.

Not everything has to be high tech and be be made in a well equipped workshop to be useful, your gadget is well deserved of your award.
I had the same feelings as you when I made TOTW for my Handee tool.
I always enjoy your posts keep em coming.
    Regards

Captainleeward - your post had the most Thanks votes, with the exception of olderdan's bench vise restoration. We love vise restorations around here, but it's usually fair to favor new tool builds over restos.

Some weeks we will weigh other factors besides Thanks votes more heavily, especially when a tool was posted just before the weekly deadline, and did not have enough time to accrue Thanks votes. We will also have to downplay this metric as the forum grows and we'll essentially experience "vote inflation".

Screw holders, lantern chucks, etc. - they are highly appreciated around here. Also note Shelly142's winning Lantern Chuck, with 16 Thanks votes so far.

You are correct that it was an astonishing week around here. Usually we just list out the good non-winning tools in the winner's post, but this is the first time I can recall that we felt the need to recognize multiple other builds from various builders separate from that list.

In my opinion the reason we post on here is to share our ideas to likeminded people.
For the last 34 years I have been working in and around engineering workshops, however I have been shown some great ideas and learnt more being involved with this forum than any other time in this period. From empty marker pens for layout blue to lovely made tools like the antique bandsaw. Very difficult to choose which is best.
I have purchased a marker pen and it is brilliant, lays a great even coat of ink for marking out. Then the antique bandsaw was finished to a high standard and I can appreciate the skills in making such an elegant tool.
It is very dependent on the audience looking at the site on what is flavour of the week. It just so happened your lantern gave this audience most interest this week so deserves the recognition it deserves.
I have also made some of the items or modified them to suit my needs that I have found on HMT. No matter how big or well made the item is or how simply the idea I enjoy all posts as you never know what might turn up. I have been very lucky to have been awarded TOTW twice and have reinvested the generosity of HMT to purchase items for the workshop for projects I am working on.
It is nice to be recognised by people who appreciate the skill, effort, and time that we all put in to this interesting hobby. So well done again
