Tobiashammer water mill and steam engine- photos

The Tobiashammer is a large, water-driven hammer mill in Ohrdruf, Thuringia, Germany. Built in 1482 on the River Ohra, the mill is now an industrial museum with five working trip hammers, a rolling mill, stamp mill, furnaces, and a large 12,000hp steam engine.

Interesting that it was a working plant for almost 500 years and still has usable drop hammers. That 12K hp steam engine was added in the early 20's and Very impressive even back then. If I ever get back over there I'm gonna go see that! I remember seeing one of the salt mines and the equipment they used back at the turn of the 20th century but this is impressive.

Thanks Altair, nice rabbit hole dive.
