This practice is becoming more common to construct a bridge in a location near where it is going to be placed then install it on one piece. the bridges are stronger saves time and lots of money even when considering the cost of the move to install it. A new overpass can be made off to the side of the road while not impeding the flow of traffic. then during a single work period one night traffic is diverted the old overpass is demolished or the new bridge is installed on new supports which have been built along with new traffic lanes by the time a work shift is over there is a new bridge to drive on. On our trip to Ct last spring we drove by a bridge being completed and the new supports and lanes were nearing completion. one day there was no bridge over the tollway the next cars were driving on it.
