    Tig welding steady rest

This is my version of a Tig welding steady rest. This helps to support your torch hand while welding in awkward positions. I designed this to be used by bolting into the holes in my Certi-flat welding table. It's adjustable up/down by allowing the verticle bar to pass down thru one of the table holes, 12 inch hand bar moves side to side, top can swivel 360 degrees around and bar can also tilt to any degree left or right as needed. Height goes from 2-1/2 inches up to 14-1/2 inches. Ready to tackle most any job!

It's made from hot rolled 5/8 round bar and 1 inch square stock. Fasteners I opted for are hex bolts that I cut a slot in so you can use either a wrench or a flat blade screwdriver to tighten and loosen.

That sure beats using a knee as a support.

I'm going to make something similar to this - it really improves my welds when I keep my torch steady and controlled.
If you can't make it precise make it adjustable.
