No Drew , I didn't feel hardening would be needed for no more holes than I needed to match drill. By the time a 1/4 drill bit could erode away a guide of this nature being that it was over 1/2" through the bolt to a significant amount of slop I figured I would have to drill a couple hundred holes before that would happen. And I'm pretty good at controlling the angularity of a hand held drill anyways.
