I made an attachment for my Peerless Watchmaker’s Lathe that allows me to turn threads. I had to make a small modification to the leadscrew on my compound slide attachment and drill a couple of holes in the headstock end of the lathe bed, but that was about all the changes needed to the lathe. It comes on and off quickly and easily. Most time consuming part of the build was hobbing all the change gears. Here’s a YouTube look at the construction and use of the attachment:
