Somebody's wallet is saying "OUCH!!!" I suspect I could populate my shop with all new machines for what that door is going to cost.

To say nothing of the "due care and attention" fine, repairs to the bus etc.

Just because you drive a Tesla doesn't mean you are smart. I'm surprised that there wasn't some kind of fail safe.

There is. It's called a driver.

Shortage of smart drivers, too. I guess they figured if the car was smart the driver didn't need to be, but evidence to date indicates otherwise, I think.

I gave up on trusting "smart" cars when, at 65MPH on the interstate, our GPS told me to "Perform a U-turn."!! Nope . . . not quite ready for prime time.

Surely you'd have thought an interlock would have been engineered into the door to disallow the engine to start, or at least a transmission lock...

The problem is, there are drivers, and there are riders often called passengers. Too many times these days, there is a rider or passenger occupying the space that is reserved for a driver. This is caused by the lack of real drivers.

That's a good point. Sadly, the idiot-proofing process undertaken by engineers is usually overtaken by an inexhaustible supply of ever-incapable idiots!
