Here, many women carry them to hang their purse desk side at work; I use one with a tool bag. They are no larger then a big coin.
You can remove need for counterweight by lowering the hook and reversing it. Suspending the load under the table top is all that's needed.

Hi, glad to know you have a look at this thanks. My boss wants to put this for her desk which has a couple of flat boards on both sides.
And actually she wants to hang all three heavy bags on it, lol. That is the idea why the hock was shaped cylindrical, this doesn't damage the bag straps.
