A few years ago I made a tailstock DRO using some scrap material and a cheap digital scale. The scale filled with oil and metal dust and I just swapped it for a new one. I took the opportunity to post a video about the accessory, and I checked the linearity this time. It's within spec for the cheap scale, and linear to about 0.03 mm. Good enough for drilling holes to a consistent depth anyway. Usual not-too-serious approach with some background about why I need a scale. Skip to 2:00 if you don't need to know why a Lincoln Darts Board has no trebles ring and is kept submerged in a barrel of murky water and why I was recruited, then fired, as the Darts team scorer in the best Irish pub in town when I was 15 years old.
The original idea came from ChrisB257 so thanks very much for the idea Chris!
