When i gave up blacksmithing I sold my old anvil ( Something I've regretted ever since - don't do it.)
Then I found that trying to hold a 'T' stake in a vice didn't work. On my 'That'll come in handy' pile I found an old jack stand base and a piece of 2" tube.
I heated the tube then hammered it over the base of the 'T' stake to form a square tapered socket. The tube was then welded to the base at the right height for an anvil.
It works so well that I now plan to make some adapters to take my other formers with different size shafts, basically 'square' morse taper sleeves.
