I'm sure he had seen that maneuver done in the movies and thought how hard can it be to drive around on the side of the hill

This guy survives the tipover just fine, but bungles the dismount.

Seen a few loose wheels on the motorway and not all behind the steering one. Damn dangerous.

Notice how there was no movement of the tire on the auxiliary steering axil. that tie rod end must be worn to the point of nearly separating at the ball end.
But what has me wondering is what kind of load could there be inside of a truck no taller than that one, which would have a high enough center of gravity, even if unsecured, to cause the trick to lay over from such a small drop of 1 left front steering tire with the truck hardly even moving. The only thing I can think of would be a piece of machinery, like a good sized hydraulic shear.
We had a 10 foot 250 ton shear go face down because the 2 4x4s it was sitting at the front corners on crushed under the weight while no one was even near it

The tire flipped the car and still holds its ground!

Then moved over to another lane in hopes of claiming another victim. I rather think the tire was enjoying itself.

Wife, kids including new baby, and I drove back from Colorado after visiting my family there about 24 years ago. Going through the pass between Grand Junction and Denver, I was in the left lane, no-passing zone, with bumper to bumper 70mph traffic. In the right lane, just ahead of me about a car length was a 4WD pickup towing a horse trailer. I stomped on the accelerator, and my wife started yelling at me for passing the truck. We heard this weird loud noise, and in our rear-view mirror saw the wheel, brake assembly, and wheel hub go bouncing through the space I'd just vacated. When I suddenly took off, the traffic behind me slowed down, and that thing hit the side of the mountain, and bounced back through the sudden gap in traffic and went off the side of the mountain into the canyon below. And I kept right on going. If I had not stomped on it, that wheel would have gone through the center of my windshield, and taken me, and the baby in the seat behind me, out! And then all that 70mph traffic would have probably killed the rest of the family. Something told me not to be there. There wasn't any noise until it started bouncing behind us. Pretty sure my Guardian Angel was working OT that day.

    Bill
