Our neighbor cut down our big redwood tree so they could build their McMansion. They ground up the stump so it wouldn't grow...only it's a redwood. That corner of the yard is covered in a dense thicket of 8-10 foot high saplings.

I've been wondering how the McMansion turned out and your new house as well
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products

The McMansion is slowly progressing. They just recently finished the roof (!!!) and put solar panels up there on both the flat and sloped bits.

The front extension is wood, which then they tore it all off, put on the vapor barrier they forgot and put fresh wood up.

After the days and days of filling and tamping the yard, they had to dig trenches for sewer pipes, jackhammer off the top of that buried retaining wall, then refill and retamp.

Then they dug for the water line, refilled and tamped. Now dug for the gas line, filled, tamped.

Then dug out a truckload or so of that fill dirt to make an indent for the driveway.

Heard a voice from inside today "that will never hold the weight".

    Onto our house...

We can move in whenever the border is open, but for the moment we can't get in. We've had them doing some things we were going to do after we got there, the 4x4 meter work area in front of our little shop is poured, Driveway in. Automatic driveway gate installed and working. Front gate has an electric release lock for when we have an intercom to hook it to, for now it's manual keys (the straight sided keys with indents in them).

Mailbox and house number up since mail delivery is live.

Today the sewer gets the absolute final signoff moving from construction to occupancy. Gas and electric already signed off. Workers managed to blow the main, the entrance panel in the front yard has a utility outlet so a welder and other construction stuff was plugged in all at once. Hey, we only have 25 amps per phase (3 phase 380V). The low current is because we're zoned datcha, small personal farm. Should only have single phase but a few strings were tugged.

The driveway cover is being fabricated now, the part over the work area will have a 0,5 ton hoist on a track so we can get stuff to/from the shop.

Fruit trees in and dormant for the winter.

Heat on to keep workers and pipes warm (even had a cm or so of snow).

So, we sit here in a house we sold in July. The owners have said we can stay a bit past 31 December, currently discussing how long, probably 'till March.

House photos here, newest at bottom.
