A friend of mine had a Plymouth superbird the tail fin wing didn't add even a fraction of a second more speed or better control. over my GTX but he though he looked cool driving it. and honking the goofy horn Beep-Beep.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

Get both cars on a super speedway where the Superbird had an actual aero advantage and it's different story.

Might be true but he never could take me in the 1/4 mile. A different driver in the bird may have made some difference. and that was a big maybe. not even sure he could have outrun my pickup. For sure not after a dropped a 383 magnum in it with the 4.88 rear end Micky Thompson N50s, most 440s and 426 hemi couldn't take it in the 1/8 but I ran out of revs in a `1/4. That green superbird was a chick magnet though I will give it that. Pretty sure it was the horn that got them.

Because it had almost five hundred pounds of fiberglass attached to it that was never intended for a drag strip.

It's always the horn that gets them.

The front end was cool though, the car looked like it was going 100MPH while sitting still. Problem was on the German Autobahn it handled like a slug at speeds near that, the wing supports acted like vertical stabilizers and caused terrific understeer at anything over 90MPH.Great for going straight down the highway but American muscle cars were never good at rapid lane change slalom type driving. Too long too wide too tall and too heavy, made up for it with loads of power that could be coached out of the engines with the proper internal and external add on's.
