Absolutely! When I was a kid the science teachers passed a bottle of mercury around so we could all put our finger in it to see what it felt like. As a people we have become afraid or our own shadows. The only lead I fear is the high velocity stuff headed my way. Would I drink mercury or boil it and inhale the vapors? Of course not, but calling the EPA over a broken fluorescent light bulb is ridiculous and only displays indoctrination, not education.

When I was growing up I was friends with a guy who used to chew on lead pellets for an air rifle like they were bubble gum. Apparently lead is soft and malleable enough that you can just chew it. He's fine. I think he has a couple kids now. Not sure how the kids turned out though. They might need the short bus to get to school.

Either way I wouldn't recommend any of these behaviors. I am NOT a believer in "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger." No, what doesn't kill you just brings you an inch closer to permanent disability, organ failure or death. At first a car is all new and shiny. But each dent, ding, scratch, broken part and lack of maintenance all adds up until the thing is so wrecked that it has to go to the junkyard. You are that car.
