It is used as packing for a reflux column. It does an OK job but it’s not great. It’s all about surface area for condensation, so the best thing I’ve tried yet in a packed column is stainless steel pot scrubbers. Of course if you don’t have any copper in your column, you’re better off using structured copper mesh or pure copper pot scrubbers.

Slim, copper packing is normally only used when you’re worried about sulphur compounds being used in the wash as it makes your product stink and as the vapour in the column passes over copper the sulphurous vapours get chemically bound to the copper.
Stainless steel packing is better as it is cheaper, easier to get and lasts a lot longer than copper.

Я это и имел ввиду. Спасибо за уточнение. В настоящее время как правило используются перегонные аппараты из нержавеющей стали, по этому применение медных скрубберов при зерновых перегонах (именно зерновых) для удаления серных соединений.

Slim, I only use preservative free grain so only worry about sulphates when making Rum as sulphur dioxide is sprayed on sugar cane as it is cut to stop it fermenting before it reaches the mill. The sugar in the cane starts fermenting within scant minutes of it being cut.

Двуокись серы для сахарного тростника? Для меня это новость. В нашей местности не растёт тростник. Значит для переработки сусла необходимы скрубберы из меди.
