    Hi Gabe.

I'm kinda stumped here, sphere machine? Like out of what and how big? Like making ball handles on the lathe or larger? Maybe I'm over thinking your inquiry, but it's always good to have an idea of what the parameters are.

    Sorry if I'm being dense.

    Hello C-Bag

I would like to make one for wood and rock.
    Stand alone unit.
Size about 8" and smaller sphere.
I know It has to be built like a beefy beast.

Well you got me there Gabe. Never seen a sphere machine before and it's not real clear how they work although I guess there's vids somewhere. I made what I call a radius cutter that could be made to cut a sphere I guess. But that was wood. Rock, wow, my first thought is what a mess! What are you making, fences and walls?

Guess we'll see who else shows up and what they have to offer

Thanks Marv! There was another one on there with a guy with a home made machine and that was VERY interesting. Pipe couplings with the grinding surfaces made with brazing rod with 80 grit diamond in it.

    WOW, who knew?

It's the complete antithesis of what we strive for with machine tools - a device purpose-made to induce random motion in the workpiece. Perfection from chaos; it's downright philosophical.
