    It's interesting to see the similarities between this week's Homemade Tool of the Week winning tool and last week's (Automatic Miter Saw Fence Stop), despite the fact that they are tools built for different disciplines.

    To add to the theme of solutions-looking-for-a-problem, especially in the context of IOT, look at some of the newer cryptocurrencies that are purpose-built to address Internet of Things, like WaltonChain and IOTA.

    Tony,

    Data acquisition is a perfect application for an Arduino. You can even evaluate the data being collected and change the collection rate.

    I would agree that some DAQ is an application but not necessarily a perfect application for the Arduino. The market for dedicated DAQ systems would have dried up if it were.

    Were this to be posted to HACKADAY, you would have received replies to the effect that this could have been accomplished with a 555 timer...

    I would love to see that done. I’ll post it there tomorrow morning.

    Thanks,

    Rick;

    I must have missed this completely back when you posted it. All I have to say is WOW! That is an amazing amount of work to put into this device. The pdf deserves a reward all on its own.

    Dave,

    Glad you liked it. No need for any reward. Just happy to share what I have learned.

    You might be interested in the Flight Data Controller project I just posted. It consists of 2 articles plus the software.
