    For taps smaller than #4 , I would not recommend a T-style holder as shown in the OP. The taps are too delicate for a holder that is unguided and capable of easily exerting too much torque.

    The two holders shown on the left in the first picture in this article...

    Tap holders

    are much better when working with such small taps.
