How it works:
Move the fence to accommodate the part you want to work. Place the part in the jig and the force of using a hand plane while working the face or the edge will keep the part secure. By laying the plane on its side you can work on the edge of the part similar to using a shooting board when working end grain. This will help you get a perfect 90 degree edge.
I found this jig to be easier than trying to clamp small parts with a vise or balance a plane on the edge of a narrow board to work that edge. Additionally, it is much safer than trying to use power tools to dimension small parts. If a piece gets too short my thickness planer will kick it out. That is a good way to get hurt or destroy something.
