My old Atlas mill has an extra hole that’s meant for a guard I don’t have. That hole is too small and close to the round overarm to reposition it very accurately but it’s a handy place for a stabilizing rod for it. It wasn’t much more work to make the clamp for them adjustable to help zero in the vertical spindle.
The slot in the clamp allows about 5 degrees movement in either direction. A little less than 27 tpi would’ve been a more suitable pitch for the two adjusting screws here but I only planned to knurl them.
