You'd think a bird flying that slow would just bounce off?

I'm certainly not an expert on helicopter windshield testing, but I would thing that the lower ground speed of a helicopter versus an airplane would mean a bird wouldn't be moving as fast...

The Robinson R44, their most popular model, has a top speed of 150 mph (130 knots).

That may be it's top speed, but that is not the horizontal speed for take off or landing.

According to multiple sources, most strikes occur during takeoff or landing or in low altitude flight. While there have been reported bird strikes at 6000ft, it is rare. One source says bird strikes during enroute flight are only 3% of incidents.

Here is a chicken and airplane setup:

One of the comments mentioned that the landing speed of a commercial sized aircraft is about 170mph.
