I thought I would have a go at silver soldering with a kiln
Philip Davies (Feb 21, 2021)
The parts were just 2 pieces of brass as I was testing out what I could do, these are roughly 25mm long (~1inch)
The flux was mixed with water and applied with a brush, the 0.7mm silver solder was cut off as 2 short lengths and placed either side of the joint. The whole thing was placed in the kiln pre-heated to 660°C
The resultant joint is rather neat
I think this would be great if you're trying to silver solder very fine parts or a fine part to a larger part - so easy to put too much heat in with a torch.
