Probably the only thing spell checkers are good for is finding typos since typos usually produce a non-word.

    It's also known as disgusting.

There's always someone who sees something that's absolutely revolting and says "you know what, I need to eat that." I'm convinced the word delicacy is just a synonym for disgusting. How many of today's delicacies were discovered by people like this guy:

Well, there are those who want to push the boundaries. Think of some of the stuff that is in various cuisines - it is there perhaps because someone was starving and they ate things to stay alive. But still...

I just searched on "disgusting food" and found this:

I made it half way and had to pause...

    5. Virgin Boy Eggs – China

This wildly popular Chinese spring delicacy, especially favored by locals in Dongyang, combines eggs with one key ingredient: the urine of boy preferably aged 10 or younger.

Buckets of boys’ urine are collected from primary school toilets in the area and the whole process of cooking takes an entire day.
    8. Ptarmigan **** – Greenland

A ptarmigan is a beautiful white bridled game bird. The predigested willow and birch plants it excretes were a valuable source of food in some parts of Greenland when resources were very limited.

Now their excrement is considered a delicacy.

Each ptarmigan will defecate up to 50 times in one spot, so it’s easy to gather. Urumiit, the inuit name for the bird’s droppings, is collected in winter when it’s dr, rather than in summer when it’s all gooey and unpleasant.

After harvesting, it’s cooked in rancid seal oil and chunks of seal meat.
Well that's just the best. Excuse me while I go to the bathroom so I can return my breakfast.

Then there is Kiviak - they take birds and sew them into a seal skin, bury it for 3 months and it "ferments". Then they eat it - especially on birthdays and weddings...

    Another trip?
