I found a follow up video and he apparently did save his car. The fact that this video didn’t show watermarks on the walls next to the car implies the car would have been fine without the plastic bag.

Water under pressure would surely find a way past any "watertight" efforts he tried. I am happy for him that it wasn't truly tested and his car was undamaged.
