Over on Facebook, in the Harbor Freight Tools Junkies' group, we were griping about the vice handle hitting the workbench. We all know WHY they are that way, but using them is annoying when you have to move the jaws a long way.

One of the other members suggested the brilliant solution of drilling the handle end of the leadscrew for a thumbscrew to hold the handle centered in normal use. This is a 10/10 solution.

A more complex solution would be some wiggly springy bit that auto-centered the handle, but this KISS approach is 10/10.
