I used to yeah a wood working unit to 7th graders, age 12-13. One girl came to me disappointed her wood had shiny metallic spot in it. Got her a new piece to work with.

Then we split that piece to find a .22 lead bullet. I was amazed how few of the students had ever seen a bullet.

I've cut a few trees and found bullets before. The bullet never remained intact. It always fragmented into lots of tiny pieces on impact.

A lot depends on on the bullet, how far the bullet traveled, how fast it was traveling when it struck. Few rimfire .22’s are fast enough to break apart.

The copper jacket bullet in video may have slowed way down before the tree got in its way!!
