I knew exactly what this was and how it works.
Why?
Because we have something like this in the laundry room magnetically attached to the washing machine:
It's two pieces of wood glued together with a curved sloped slot for a marble. If you look closely, you can see the wood seam where it is glued together:
And the marble rolls up and down to hold the towel:
We have had this for at least 30 years... what is old is new...
