What do you guys think is the purpose of the hose on the far end which is disconnected just before she pulls the whole thing off to remove the mandrel? It seems like water comes out of it and the hose looks clean…I had been wondering if it was providing some vacuum to remove air bubbles…but if that was the case I wouldn’t have figured it would be so clean?

That is not a railing, that is a Baluster, the thing that holds up a railing or beam or other capping object.

Also, that looks like mortar, not concrete. Concrete has gravel...

That very well be a type of mortar, BUT not because of the absence of larger aggregate.

The real different between concrete and mortar is the addition of lime to mortar. Adding lime to mortar can enhance its workability, flexibility, and durability. Lime has a beneficial effect on the plasticity and cohesiveness of the mortar, making it easier to work with and reducing the risk of cracking.. https://www.graymont.com/en/markets/...nt-lime-mortar

Concrete does typically have larger agggregate than mortar, but not always. The real difference is the lime.

I am wondering if that hose provides water to rinse and lubricate the "bearing" on the far end. It would not take long for the sand an grit to wear out whatever kind of bearing that is running on.
