They darted him and then he got mad. Then he held on as the drug took effect.

I didn't see anything about grounding, they cut the power before they darted him...

Look at about 1:09 when it grabs the wire with it's right "hand". It locks up, goes stiff and, luckily, it's weight seems to break it's grip with the wire and it goes down. The sedative might have had some impact on it letting go before it dropped to the ground but that would be hard to determine.

I don't see it as anything due to electrical. It looks just like a frantic grab and hold to keep from falling as the rest of the body has lost control.

Having darted a few animals and dealt with the transition from startled to dropped, it looks the same as those others. I even had a buffalo stumble into a fence as it tried to keep afoot - that was fun (not).

For there to be an electrical influence, there has to be a path for the electricity to flow. Since the chimp used the hot wires to move from left to right, that would have been where it would have been shocked. So, since it wasn't shocked then, they had the electricity turned off. When the grab of the single wire at 1:09 happens, there is only the one wire, no path for current to flow.

That guy is lucky that chimp didn't jump into the bucket. They are very dangerous.
